as one combined set, or separately.
Worlds of the Solar System
Originally designed by Terry Hancock for his teenage daughter's bedroom,
this set shows the planets and moons of the solar system with scale comparisons
and lots of solar system facts, in an attractive composition.
The five posters are designed so that they can be mosaiced into a continuous
display, just about 8-feet wide, or they can be separately framed and displayed
around your classroom or home. Suitable for all ages, including science-inclined
adults. The emphasis here is on worlds with solid surfaces that explorers might
one day visit or pioneers settle on, with moons and dwarf planets given as much
attention as the planets.
Although it is not practical to show all of the worlds at the same scale, the
moons and terrestrial worlds are shown at a 1:30 Million scale, with other objects
grouped into different common scales.
For convenient composition, the individual posters cover five concentric regions
of the solar system:
- Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Earth-Crossing Asteroids
- Earth, Moon, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt
- Jupiter and its Moons
- Saturn and its Moons
- Uranus, Neptune, and the Kuiper Belt
Five 19"x27" posters.
